Each year, to coincide with the July 4th holiday, I consider writing a blog post about how to build a freedom based business. It never happens, and this year I am focusing on why it doesn’t happen.

It’s not that I am not passionate about the idea, or the July 4th holiday. If you know me well, you know that It’s actually quite the opposite. The reason I never seem to get around to it is that that it’s not my priority. This is the time of year where I am extra careful to stay focused on doing more with less – focusing on priorities!

Here’s what that looks like:

  • Enjoying the summer fun – my shorter weeks allow for days off or mini-vacations with my family.
  • Focusing on the tasks that have the greatest impact (ie: letting that blog post slide).
  • Focusing on growing relationships, both personal and professional.
  • Letting go of the pressure that we put on ourselves to always be doing more.

As I look at this list, not only is this what a freedom based business looks like, it’s what a freedom based business is made of.

It’s what gives you the space to grow and do your best work. It’s the freedom to do things your way or change things up when you need to. It’s the freedom to shorten your work week or spend your afternoons with your kids (afternoons, because I have teens, and TEENS LIKE TO SLEEP!)

A freedom based business also means being able to work from the pool or the mountains, or wherever your adventures take you!

I hope you are enjoying the same freedom in your business!

PS: Tell me in the comments: What does your Freedom Based Business look like?
